Meet Sarah K Conti
The designer behind SKC Designs
Having grown up near the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, Sarah spent most of her childhood in nature with all of its sounds, color, and texture that are now the driving force of her designs. The beauty of nature, light reflecting off the lake, the sound of the water gently lapping against the shore, or the shades of pink in a wild rose...we can all relate to the peaceful rhythms of nature and the visual beauty that abounds.
As a designer, she believes in bringing nature's rhythm into every design project, to create elegant interiors that reflect your unique style.
When working with Sarah, her clients are quick to point out how much they love and appreciate her educational approach to interior design. With over 30+ years of experience as an interior designer, Sarah is not one to make a suggestion just because. She actually enjoys explaining the “why” behind the choices being presented and ensures every client understands, too.
Past Experience That Led To A Passionate Business
Sarah opened her own interior design firm in 2000, after working for the following reputable companies in architecture and design — the Lane Group, Scalamandre' Silks, and Holly Hunt Ltd. During her time with Holly Hunt Ltd, Sarah had the unique opportunity to represent some of the design industries leading manufacturers of furniture, lighting, accessories, and artwork. She worked closely with top interior designers and architects, assisting in the selection of fine goods for their clientele. She also oversaw all customer service for the furniture division, which allowed her to learn the intricate details of manufacturing fine furniture. She then went on to receive further training from Boyd Lighting, Manheim Galleries, and R. Jones.
When she wasn’t enjoying nature and all of its beauty, Sarah was watching and helping her mother choose wallpaper, paint, fabrics, and drapery for their home. Her mother saw her growing interest and talent and began to introduce her to books on decorating, design, and remodeling, igniting a passion that eventually led her to pursue a degree in interior design. Sarah graduated from the Interior Design program at Alexandria Technical College and went on to attend and graduate from the post-graduate Interior Environmental Specialist program, where her studies were focused on color and lighting.
It goes without saying, Sarah has always lived and worked by design. It’s through all these different seasons of life that led to starting this business — in the pursuit to help others experience life by their unique design.
